Modify Standard SED’s Using Microsoft Word/Draw
(New: 09/21/01)
1.
Go to Microsoft Word |
2.
Go to “Look in” and go to C: Drive/
Program Files/ VP Buildings/ VPCommand/ Details and then Select the SED
detail that you need to revise. 3. Click on Insert Note: You may want to add a shortcut in the “My Pictures” folder to the “Details” folder. |
4. You will now see that you have the SED in a Word Document |
5. Right click the object/SED and select Edit Picture. Note: This will open a new Word Document page named “Picture in FILENAME” that will need to be closed prior to saving. Note: This step will only need to be followed with the initial Editing of the SED. Any following editing of this SED will only require a double left mouse click on the SED. |
6.
Verify that your Drawing Tools are added to
your Toolbar. 7. If not right mouse click on the existing toolbar and select Drawing. Note: You can use the Customize option to add many useful tools to your toolbar that would otherwise take time to get to. |
8. Use Select Objects Arrow
From the Drawings Toolbar and drag a box around the SED/object. Make sure that you drag a large enough box to get around the entire object. |
9. After you have dragged a box around the SED object go to Draw and then select ungroup. |
10. After you have clicked on ungroup your SED/object will then look like this. Click on the screen somewhere other than on the object to get it to clear |
11. Next click on the background of the object and hit the delete button. You now will be able to modify the SED/object to what is needed using Word. Note: There are many Drawing Features in Microsoft Word that you may not be aware of. Take some time to familiarize yourself with all the Drawing Tolls that would be beneficial in editing you SED. |
12. As you can see the Original SED has now been modified to create a detail for a Portal Brace in the web. Note: The SED number must be changed to a different number as it is not a standard SED now. As can see an X was added to the SED number. 13. Once completed with the SED Close the “Picture in FILENAME” document page and save. |
14. The Final SED can then be modified to the desired size to be printed. Right mouse click on the SED and select Format Object. |
15. Select
Size 16. Turn
OFF the “Lock aspect ratio” button 17. Now
revise the Height and Width to your desired size. 18. OK out. |
